Scholarly blues

I tripped the young scholar and learned the ole fool.
The former said, "Why, make me look like a tool?"
I made you look toolish because you are foolish.
Because that I can, be the reason I do this.

And also because of the smirk that you wear.
And holding your nose so high up in the air.
So I did push you off from the loft of your perch
And unceremonious, landed in dirt.

The ladies dig giggle, the gents they guffawed.
'Cause they all were so eager to watching you fall.
So I crept up behind you and toppled you good.
And all of the world was just hoping I would.

The fool you looked down on, inherits the earth.
The scholar, so lofty, the subject of mirth.
So die your death deathless for all that it's worth
'Cause mis'ry loves comp'ny and you're not the first.

I crashed your posh party, snuck off with the wine.
I plucked all the grapes and now bare is your vine.
Snuck up behind you and and tripped you supine.
If name you must call me it's Jester Divine.
