Lament for Vendetta

Do you remember the fifth of November:
The gunpowder treasonous plot?
The harvesting season that witnessed the scheming,
The powder that failed to be shot.
And then did defame him, and draw, quarter, hang him:
The sentence that mercy forgot.
On the fifth we remember, the callous dissenter,
That failed in his villainous plot.
